\"YSAThe Youth Leadership for Service-Learning Excellence Award recognizes service-learning programs and projects that demonstrate outstanding youth leadership. This award focuses on projects that show a high level of youth initiative in all areas including identifying an authentic need, planning the service, and putting that plan into action. Teams of young people participating in service-learning projects can apply. The deadline is December 4.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Representatives from the National Youth Leadership\u00a0Council will review applications. One winner will be\u00a0selected to receive this award at Educate. Ignite. Transform.,\u00a0the 27th Annual National Service-Learning Conference in\u00a0Minneapolis, Minn., March 30 – April 2, 2016. The winner\u00a0will receive $1,000 to support the program, along with\u00a0travel, lodging, and registration for the conference for\u00a0two youth participants and one adult leader. Each youth\u00a0involved in the winning program will receive an award\u00a0certificate.<\/p>\n

ELIGIBILITY<\/strong>
\nYouth teams representing K-12 service-learning programs in\u00a0which the service-learning is tied to the school curricula may\u00a0apply. Although the word \u201cprogram\u201d is used, applications\u00a0will be accepted for a particular project as long as it has a\u00a0long-term impact. Preference will be given to ongoing\u00a0programs and projects.<\/p>\n

NOMINATION REQUIREMENTS AND INSTRUCTIONS<\/strong>
\nThe young people involved in the program must write the\u00a0application. In cases where youth are unable to write the\u00a0application due to age or disability, a teacher or service learning\u00a0coordinator can assist with the application to the\u00a0extent that is necessary.<\/p>\n
