\"LOGO_medium<\/a>With the new school year just around the corner, rising juniors and seniors are\u00a0turning their thoughts to college. In addition to juggling challenging academic workloads, logging volunteer hours, and \u00a0participating in sports and extra curriculars, one important concern is achieving the highest scores possible on\u00a0standardized admissions tests. All college-bound students need to\u00a0take the \u00a0SATs. But when should your student take the test?<\/em><\/p>\n

It is recommended that students initially sit for the exam in their junior year, preferably the March date or later. By that time in the school year, much of the content area of the test will have been covered in the school curriculum. This will also allow time to receive scores and retake the tests on an upcoming date of the current school year, which is May and June.<\/p>\n

As a senior, it is advised that a student retake the October or November tests, at the latest, to be sure that college application deadlines for the following fall are met.<\/p>\n

What is the SAT, exactly?<\/em> The SAT test is really just a set of tools designed to assess a student\u2019s academic readiness for college. The test is designed to reflect what colleges and universities are looking for today in prospective students, and measure the skills required for success in the quickly changing 21st century.<\/p>\n
