{"id":28368,"date":"2018-12-04T19:14:21","date_gmt":"2018-12-05T00:14:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.backtobasicslearning.com\/?p=28368"},"modified":"2018-12-04T19:14:21","modified_gmt":"2018-12-05T00:14:21","slug":"are-teens-getting-smarter-about-social-media","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/backtobasicslearning.com\/are-teens-getting-smarter-about-social-media\/","title":{"rendered":"Are teens getting smarter about social media?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p2\"><strong>A new <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pewinternet.org\/2018\/11\/28\/teens-social-media-habits-and-experiences\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pew Research study<\/a> of U.S. teens reports that how teens are using social media platforms is changing\u2014 perhaps for the better.<\/strong> The majority of teens associate positive outcomes with social media, and may be using it for constructive outcomes.<\/p>\n<p>Roughly eight in ten teens say that social media makes them feel more connected to what is going on in their friends\u2019 lives. Around two-thirds report that social media platforms make them feel as if they have people who will support them through tough times.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pewinternet.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2018\/11\/PI_2018.11.28_teens-social-media_0-014.png\" alt=\"Teens say social media helps strengthen friendships, provide emotional support, but can also lead to drama, feeling pressure to post certain types of content\" width=\"631\" height=\"589\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Close to half or more of teens report that they rarely or never share very personal information like selfies, things only their friends would understand, updates on their location, or personal videos.
