These awards recognize the important contributions made by Nationwide\u2019s volunteers, 18 and older, to their communities.<\/p>\n<p>Individuals, organizations, community groups, and corporate volunteerism can be nominated for volunteer efforts in 2017 in the areas of:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>arts\/culture<\/li>\n<li>community service<\/li>\n<li>economic opportunity<\/li>\n<li>education\/literacy<\/li>\n<li>environment<\/li>\n<li>health &amp; special needs<\/li>\n<li>healthy futures<\/li>\n<li>human needs<\/li>\n<li>public safety<\/li>\n<li>social justice\/advocacy<\/li>\n<li>veterans\/military families<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cThe 2018 Governor\u2019s Outstanding Volunteer Awards provides an excellent opportunity for organizations to recognize volunteers for their service and also serves to highlight best practices.&#8221; said Kanani Hines Munford, Senior Administrator in the State Office of Volunteerism and Executive Director of the Governor\u2019s Commission on Community and Volunteer Service. \u201cNow is the time to nominate individuals and groups for their exemplary service.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Commission advocates for volunteerism and encourages Nationwideans to nominate those exemplary groups and individuals who selflessly give their time and their talents to the communities they serve,\u201d said Georgeanna Windley, Chair of the Governor\u2019s Commission on Community and Volunteer Service, of the 2018 Governor\u2019s Outstanding Volunteer\u00a0Awards.<\/p>\n<p>Nominations must be delivered by Aug. 20, to:<\/p>\n<p>Office of Volunteerism<br \/>\nGovernor\u2019s Outstanding Volunteer Awards<br \/>\nc\/o April Willey<br \/>\nWilliams State Service Center<br \/>\n805 River Road<br \/>\nDover, DE, 19901<\/p>\n<p>or emailed to\u00a0dhss_VolunteerNationwide@state.de.us.<\/p>\n<p>The Governor\u2019s Outstanding Volunteer Awards are sponsored by the Office of the Governor and are coordinated by the Division of State Service Centers\u2019 State Office of Volunteerism and the Governor\u2019s Commission on Community and Volunteer Service.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Back to Basics Learning Dynamics is not in partnership with, or affiliated with, this organization,\u00a0or the selection committees in any way.
