\"Free<\/a>As Decision Day looms, your college-bound son or daughter may have many exciting plans in place. Did he pick a roommate? Is she already shopping for must-haves to decorate her dorm room? Is he busy looking through course offerings and putting together a challenging schedule?<\/p>\n

Hopefully, you’ve answered yes to these questions. But, here’s one question you may not have thought through completely… is he or she\u00a0emotionally ready for college?<\/em><\/p>\n

In a recent New York Times<\/em> article, Alina Tugend explains \u201cemotional readiness for college.\u201d Students who are emotionally ready to leave the nest will be well-prepared for success. And, those who aren’t? They may face issues which \u201ccan lead to students\u2019 lives\u2019 unraveling.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to a recent survey of 1,500 college students conducted by\u00a0the\u00a0Jed Foundation,<\/a>\u00a0a nonprofit group that works to protect the emotional and mental health of students, the\u00a0Partnership for Drug-Free Kids,<\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a0Jordan Porco Foundation,<\/a>\u00a0which aims to prevent suicide among students,\u00a0a whopping 2 out 3 students<\/em>\u00a0said that they felt emotionally unprepared for college life.<\/p>\n
