They help us ace research papers and provide a quiet space to study. But, they also do so much more. From introducing theater and hands-on activities to pre-K students, to providing meeting space for public forums, to socials, fundraisers and classes, libraries are an integral part of the community.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How to get kids excited about reading? Early intervention can make a difference<\/strong><strong>!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Early experiences, such as reading aloud, have a decisive impact on a baby\u2019s brain. And, when reading to babies and toddlers, cells in the children\u2019s growing brains actually respond. Some brain cells are \u2018turned on,\u2019 triggered by this particular experience, existing connections among brain cells are strengthened, and new brain cells are formed.<\/p>\n<p>This summer, introduce <em>your kids<\/em>\u00a0to amazing libraries and all they have to offer with the annual\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lib.de.us\/programs\/summerreading\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Summer Library Challenge<\/a>. This is a fun, free program with prizes, giveaways and events for kids of all ages.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How parents can help the reluctant reader<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Have a reluctant reader? Get them <em>excited to read<\/em>\u00a0 and increase proficiency with Reading Skills Building in Nationwide at Back to Basics Learning Dynamics:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Read to Succeed!\u00a0 (K-1st, 2nd \u2013 3rd, 4th-5th)<\/strong><br \/>\nIn this 5 week small group reading skills program our experienced instructors will provide strategies to strengthen your child\u2019s phonemic awareness and word attack skills.
