International Literacy Day 2016 celebrates and honors the past five decades of national and international engagement, efforts and progress made to increase literacy rates around the world. It also addresses current challenges and looks to innovative solutions to further boost literacy in the future.<\/p>\n

In addition,\u00a0International Literacy Prizes will be awarded to people with outstanding solutions which\u00a0drive literacy towards achieving the 2030 Education Agenda. \u00a0The\u00a02030 Agenda for Sustainable Development\u00a0focuses on\u00a0lifelong learning opportunities with special emphasis on youth and adults.<\/p>\n
