Hello, I am Lisa Ramsey!
One of my passions is working with children and watching their faces light up when they experience success with reading or a math problem for the first time.
At Back to Basics, I focus primarily on phonics and math skills. Most problems in the elementary classroom come from a gap in fundamental math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) or in reading concepts. So, my job is to find those missing pieces and help your child build a firm foundation for future success.
I graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1983 with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with an Early Childhood concentration. In 1988, I graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary with a Masters in Religious Education with a Missions concentration.
I have taught in a variety of settings: Christian schools, public schools, and home-school co-ops. Also, I have tutored one on one and in small groups. It is a joy for me to teach and to see the children’s excitement as they grasp the concepts, master the knowledge, and tackle their assignments with greater confidence.
I love Jesus, and enjoy teaching children.
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord. Plans for good and not for evil to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11
I am looking forward to great plans.
Lisa Ramsey
